Making it Simple: Quick Steps to Check FASTag Balance Using Mobile Apps

There is no doubt in the fact that online FASTag has become an integral part of the Indian toll collection system, making highway travel seamless at all times. Recently, The National Highway Authority of India has undertaken the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative in order to discourage the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to a particular vehicle.

To prevent this practice, it is essential for everyone to get their FASTag’s KYC done before 31st January 2024. However, coming back to our focus, with the advancement of technology, checking your FASTag balance has become easier than ever, thanks to your internet-enabled smartphone.

What is FASTag? What are its advantages?

FASTags are basically electronic toll collection devices that use the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. With this tech, one can access smooth travel and cash-free transactions at toll booths across our country.

Since the adoption of FASTag, travelers tend to save a lot of time, money, energy as well as fuel. Long gone are the days when toll booths actually used to witness long queues and traffic snarls. Now, the moment you reach the toll gate, you don’t even have to open your window as the RFID gets scanned automatically and within 5 seconds, you pass the booth.

  • Transparent

This toll collection system reduces the overall chances of disputes and incorrect charges in our country as it offers complete transparency. Moreover, as there is no cash involved, you can easily keep track of your online transactions and even fastag recharge online easily.

  • Smooth and Seamless Transactions

FASTag tends to offer swift and trouble-free transactions at booths, allowing all the vehicles equipped with it to pass through without any kind of hassle. It decreased the travel time as well as congestion.

  • Environment Friendly

Using FASTag helps one to avoid long queues, helping in saving a lot of fuel and reducing the overall carbon footprint. Moreover, it also promotes the government’s initiatives for Digital and Cashless India.

How to check balance in FASTag using mobile apps?

It totally depends on the application you are using. For over a year, I’ve been using the Bajaj Finserv application, which was recommended to me by a colleague. Believe me, this is one of the best applications for this purpose.

  1. After downloading the app directly from the Play Store or Apple Store and installing it, you can log in by entering the details.
  2. Navigate to the “Payments” section, then access “Bills and Recharges”, and choose “FASTag Recharge” from the available options.
  3. Choose your FASTag provider from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter your vehicle registration number and tap on “Proceed.”
  5. Your FASTag balance will be displayed on the screen.

Even for fastag recharge online, this application is highly advisable.

Conclusion

Checking your FASTag balance via mobile applications has simplified and streamlined toll payment processes, enhancing the overall travel experience on Indian highways. The simplicity of these quick steps, from choosing the right application to viewing your balance with just a few taps, ensures a hassle-free experience.

Lastly, as per the latest reports, online FASTag can soon vanish as the central government plans to begin testing GPS-based toll collection soon. GPS tolling, which will be much faster and more efficient, is expected to ultimately replace the existing system of FASTag.
